In 1800, Napoleon crossed the Alps on a mule. David painted him on a rearing stallion. Napoleon didn’t even show up to sit for the portrait, David used his son as a stand-in, perched at the top of a ladder. The result became one of the most iconic images ever made: pure propaganda, painted as truth.

225 years later, Preston reimagined it.

Without Fear (Sans Peur) is a limited edition of 33 silkscreen works by Preston Paperboy. Each print was pulled by hand from Preston’s original painting — then he went back into every single one individually in his studio. No two are the same.

Three editions: 20 hand-finished at 16×24”, 10 XL hand-embellished, and 3 XL with diamond dust. No reprints. Ever.
