Ashby de la Zouch Museum Step into the Story of Ashby de la Zouch. A small independent museum showcasing the history of Ashby.

Our shop is packed with gift ideas and a good selection of local history books. Our photo archive is popular with locals and researchers from further afield and we have a family history specialist to help you trace your Ashby ancestors. Our archives are packed with fascinating documents, maps, plans and objects which are available to view by appointment. In our galleries we have personal audio guides in English and in French and another audio trail specially for children. Talking of the kids, we have a great series of full colour cartoons which depict the history of Ashby in a way designed to appeal to primary school aged children.Our reminiscence boxes help older people take an enjoyable trip down memory lane and are available to groups and organizations to hire.

A Christmas Past has arrived at Ashby Museum! 🎄✨
Step into a world of festive nostalgia in the Loudoun Gallery. We are hosting an enchanting temporary exhibition featuring an extraordinary collection of antique and vintage Christmas decorations.
Sourced from Germany and the former Soviet Union, these unique historical pieces have been beautifully curated and displayed by Tatiana and Serhii, the wonderful owners of our local Aurora Café.
Whether you love vintage holiday decor, social history, or just want a cosy morning out in Leicestershire, this exhibition is a perfect autumn and winter escape.

Join us at Ashby Museum. THIS Wednesday, 7th October 2026, at 7:00 pm for a captivating illustrated talk by local historian Ken Hillier. He will unveil the wild, brief, and tragic life of Henry Rawdon-Hastings, the 4th Marquess of Hastings (1842–1868)—one of local history's most notorious figures.
Whether you are a die-hard history buff or just love a scandalous true story from the Victorian era, this is an evening you won’t want to miss.

QUIZ NIGHT - Angela Edwards Memorial Quiz
Join us for our biannual quiz fundraiser in honour of our late devoted museum Trustee, Angela Edwards.
The quiz will be hosted at Packington Memorial Hall on Friday, 6th November. Doors open at 18:30. 19:00 start.
Tickets are £15 and include a fish and chip supper. Prebooking is essential.
Quiz night + raffle prizes & bingo.
