It's Nature Discovery Day at Ellisland today!

Local video artist and documentary filmmaker John Wallace shared this striking image with us recently of a red kite soaring above the fields. He was visiting Ellisland as part of his project BURN, which documents and celebrates burns, streams, stanks and ditches as the capillaries of the land and ecosystems we depend upon.

There's still time to visit us during Nature Discovery Day, you can join a guided wildlife walk around the beautiful farm, or take part in creative eco art activities inspired by the landscape. You can get crafty at our “make your own binoculars” station, and budding photographers can enter our nature photography competition and capture the beauty of Ellisland.

We're looking forward to welcoming you soon!

📺 Tonight, BBC Scotland's Landward comes to Ellisland!

We were thrilled to welcome farmer, broadcaster and Burns enthusiast Cammy Wilson, better known to many of you as The Sheep Game, on a visit to discover how life on the farm shaped Scotland's National Poet, and to discuss our plans to protect Ellisland for the future.

Cammy met our Project Curator Adam Dickson to talk about Robert Burns the farmer, and the cutting-edge farming Burns was experimenting with here at Ellisland. He also spoke with our Project Director Joan McAlpine about the campaign to save the home of Auld Lang Syne.

Tune in tonight at 8:30pm on BBC Scotland, or tomorrow, 29 May at 7pm on BBC One Scotland, or Sunday 7 June at 9am on BBC Two.

The episode will also be available on iPlayer from this evening too.

Ellisland Museum & Farm needs volunteers!

Can you help?

For nearly a century, Ellisland Museum & Farm has been cared for by volunteers whose time and energy makes Ellisland what it is today. This International Museum Day, we are putting a call out to grow our amazing team of volunteers to support our busy programme of events and activities.

Whether you are able to give a few hours a week regularly or only have a couple of hours to spare a month, there are a variety of ways new volunteers at Ellisland can play their part in keeping this special heritage site alive.

We’re looking for volunteers to cover a range of roles including:
• Events support
• Education and Learning support
• Maintenance, Care and Gardening
• Front of House (Guides)
• Social Media and Photography

Interested?
