Delighted to announce our café will be open from tomorrow, 12noon-3pm (kitchen closes at 2.30pm) serving soup and a selection of sandwiches 🍲🥪

Our Community Engagement Officer, Gemma Malcolm, is kindly stepping in so we can provide this much needed service for locals and visitors.

Don't all come at once, you might startle her! 😅😂

Current café opening hours will be Tuesday to Friday, 12noon-3pm

We are delighted to tell you that Salmaidh has been named on the FilmG awards shortlist! We would like to give our thanks to everyone that was involved in making the film. We are also so thankful to everyone that voted for Salmaidh.

The awards ceremony will take place in Glasgow on 11 June - we are sooooo looking forward to it! 🎉

Last week we were visited by Molly from Action For Conservation and Ellen from PeakCymru who worked together, and with their local community, to create a living memory map of the River Usk. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏞️

Their work has been an amazing source of inspiration for our Engagement Officer, Gemma, who has been working with pupils from Sgoil nan Loch on a biodiversity project around the Laxay River. The project has been funded by the Bumblebee Conservation Trust 🐝

It was great for Molley and Ellen to see the maps we have been working on and for us to see theirs. We learnt that some of the issues facing our local biodiversity are also experienced in and around the River Usk - there is so much more that unites, than divides us!

Dr. Iain Roberston from the UHI was also visiting the Hub, and he took the time to view the maps Gemma and the school have been working on. We think he was very impressed 😊

We hope to share the results of this project with the wider community as part of the Outer Hebrides Wildlife Festival in June.

FAODAIL have recently FOUND five new collections which are ready to digitise. Please help us raise the additional £4000 required to cover the 6k scanning of these collections which contain extensive footage of Lewis (MacIver collection, Laxay) and Harris (MacLeod) as well as Benbecula.

Murdo Campbell, from Dunganachy, a well known fiddler and box player, shot film on super8 with sound!! A first for the FAODAIL archive. The reel lables indicate he may have filmed quite a few ceilidhs.

We are raising awareness of the imminent launch of the BFI Screen Heritage supported FAODAIL | FOUND website on 1st May. Live music screening events with Pàdruig Morrison and Claire Frances MacNeil to celebrate the website launch happen on 2nd May in Edinburgh and 9th May at Carinish Hall, North Uist.
