This October, our Halloween Trail is back for three days of spooky family fun around the castle grounds!

Follow the trail, hunt down the clues and see if you can solve the puzzle along the way 🔎

There’ll be plenty of Halloween fun for little explorers and a few surprises to keep you on your toes!

Choose the beautiful Rose Garden for an outdoor ceremony, the historic High Hall inside the castle, or the Horsemill for a simple and relaxed setting with your favourite people.

Three very different spaces, each offering its own way to say “I do” at Crathes.

👻 The frightful forest trail returns for more boo-rilliant Halloween Family Fun.

£6 per child. Accompanying adults go free.

Pull on your favourite Halloween costumes and venture into the Frightful Forest on the Crathes Castle Estate.

Follow the family-friendly trail through the grounds, hunt for hidden clues and discover some creepy surprises along the way. Complete the trail to claim your spell-cial prize.

The trail is buggy-friendly and well-behaved dogs on short leads are welcome. Wrap up warm, wear suitable footwear and prepare for a frightfully fun family adventure, whatever the weather witches are brewing!

⚠️ Foresty operations have commenced at Crathes Castle Estate and there will be large machinery on site.

From the evening of Friday 25 September 2026, a section of the Red Squirrel and Birch Trail will be closed, with an alternative route to follow.

These works are part of ongoing restricting operations of the woodlands for future resilience and biodiversity. It is also still a major response to storm damage of the past few years.

Please respect the trail closure signs and follow the trail diversions for your own safety and enjoyment of the Crathes Castle Estate trails.
