On this very day, 1982 - The Rolling Stones last played in Aberdeen. Were you there..?

An incredible night, 44 years ago:
The Rolling Stones played their last Aberdeen gig at The Capitol Theatre on the 26th of May, 1982 - the opening night of their European Tour.
The Capitol is the only Aberdeen venue that The Stones ever played at - their other two visits were on the 19th of May 1964; and on the 1st of June 1965.

Were you at any of these shows?? Let us know!

Iris Walker shared this wonderful local summer Sunday moment in time, from long ago, with us a few years ago. Hope the sun shines for everyone today and that at least a few of you will get the use of a 'knotted handkerchief', like the gent has in Iris's photo 🌞🌞

Thanks to Roy Robinson for sharing this illustration with us, from 'The Book of Banff".
"Roy Chillingworth's impression of eleventh-century Banff. The town was on the top of the Brae, now the High Street, with the Castle separate to the north". The
Castle was built as a defence from Viking raiders.

(Didn't Roy Chillingworth play for the Vale?)

Here is our Test of Time result for the UK Singles Chart of week ending May 12th 1974, as announced by Gayle on this week's Deveron FM Saturday Mid Morning Show.

In a chart brim full of 'glamrockers' and 'teenyboppers', we have another first this week as we have a tie for your number one choice. Abba's huge 89 votes for 'Waterloo', being matched by Terry Jacks' 'Seasons in the Sun', over thirty votes clear of the second placed Rubettes

We have another 'nil pointer' this week and once again it's a top act of the time with the Osmonds getting a 'duck' for 'I Can't Stop'. Surprisingly, a great tune of the day and on almost every 1970's station playlist, 'Doctors Orders' only managed to scrape up two votes. Give both a listen, you might just remember them and think differently? ( Links to both are below)

Usual protocol of votes in by this coming Monday night, please, for this week's Test of Time, which is looking at the chart of week ending May 22nd 1982

TEST OF TIME TEAZER.....
New chart at 5pm. Let's get 20 comments answering Mike's questions? 😀

"Right folks, a few clues and just for fun a couple of chart related questions relating to this week’s Test Of Time featured year. All you have to do is tell me the year. The top twenty will be posted later today. Good luck.

CHART WISE
Songs this week include “Only You”, “Goody Two Shoes”, “House Of Fun” and “Hungry Like The Wolf”.

YOUR QUESTIONS
???At no.3 this week is PHD with “I Won’t Let You Down”. Vocalist Jim Diamond went on to have a no.1 hit on his own with “I Should Have Known Better”. In 1986 Jim returned to the charts with the theme song from what ITV drama series???

???Joan Jett and The Blackhearts scored their only top twenty hit with “I Love Rock n Roll”. Who originally wrote and recorded the song? (No Googling Alec!)???

IN THE NEWS
The Falklands War was ongoing and Pope John Paul II was the first reigning Pontiff to visit the UK since 1531. ( Now that’s a Test Of Time chart I’d like to see).

LOCALLY
Boots the chemist closed its doors on Low Street after serving for many years. (Anyone know how long they were there?)

BUT WHAT WAS THE YEAR
Answers here from 3PM. Until next week, take care.
Mike”
