Diwrnod Neges Heddwch Urdd Gobaith Cymru ☮️ Urdd Gobaith Cymru Peace and Goodwill Message
Dyma rhai o fathodynnau o gasgliad Storiel. Yn eu mysg mae’r bathodyn heddwch bach iawn du a gwyn. Mae’n debyg ei fod yn gyfarwydd iawn i lawer o Gymry a fagwyd yn y 1980au, yn ystod cyfnod o godi ymwybyddiaeth a phrotest gwrth-niwclear. Yno hefyd mae'r pabi gwyn, sy'n cael ei ddefnyddio i gofio'r rhai a fu farw ar faes y gad, ac fel symbol o heddwch a heddychiaeth.
Wrth ochr â nhw mae casgliad o fathodynnau Cymdeithas yr Iaith, sy'n annog defnydd o'r Gymraeg sydd, fel y gwyddom, yn iaith lleiafrifol. Dyma grynodeb o Neges 2026:
'Eleni mae Neges Heddwch ac Ewyllys Da'r Urdd yn canolbwyntio ar Ieithoedd Lleiafrifol. Pwrpas y Neges yw addysgu pobl ar draws y byd am yr ieithoedd hyn, ac annog iddynt eu gwerthfawrogi, eu dysgu a’u defnyddio. Mae’r Neges yn agor trafodaeth ehangach am rôl iaith mewn empathi, cydraddoldeb a dealltwriaeth o’r byd o’n cwmpas... Mae heddwch yn siarad pob iaith.'

Here are a few badges from the Storiel collection. Among them is this very small badge in black and white. It’s probably very familiar to many Welsh people who grew up in the 1980’s, during the hey-day of anti-nuclear awareness and protest. There is also a white poppy which is used as a symbol of peace, worn either in place of or in addition to the red remembrance poppy for Remembrance Day or Anzac Day.
Also among the badges are a few Cymdeithas yr Iaith badges, encouraging the use of Welsh, as it is of course a minority language. Here is a summary of the 2026 Message:
'This year, the Urdd’s Message of Peace and Goodwill focuses on Minority Languages. Its aim is to educate people around the world about these languages and to encourage them to value, learn, and use them. In doing so, the Message opens up a wider conversation about the role of language in empathy, equality, and our understanding of the world around us... Peace speaks every language.'
