๐Ÿ”” HMS Trump in the Walney Channel ๐Ÿ””

Following the recent news coverage of King Charles III Queen Elizabeth The Royal Family presenting the original bell from HMS Trump to the US President President Donald J. Trump The White House during a state visit this week, we wanted to share this photograph from our Vickers Photographic Collection (VPA.0078).

HMS Trump (T-Class submarine) was built by Vickers-Armstrongs in Barrow-in-Furness and launched in 1944. This image shows the submarine in the Walney Channel off Biggar Village, a familiar local setting before she went on to serve overseas during the Second World War.

Photographs like this highlight Barrowโ€™s proud shipbuilding heritage and the global stories that began in local waters.
