This Volunteers’ Week, we’re celebrating the incredible volunteers who help make the American Museum & Gardens such a welcoming and inspiring place to visit.

From supporting visitors in the museum and gardens, to helping in the herb shop, plus guided tours and special events, your time, enthusiasm and dedication mean so much to us. Thank you for everything you do throughout the year.

So it was a pleasure to come together for our Volunteers’ Afternoon Tea Party this afternoon, a lovely opportunity to celebrate, share stories and enjoy some well-deserved cake together!

If you’d like to become part of our wonderful volunteer community, you can find out more about current opportunities on our website: www.americanmuseum.org/join-support/volunteer-with-us

June is a landmark month at the American Museum & Gardens ☀️

Join us as we welcome a historic printed copy of the Declaration of Independence as part of our year-long America 250 programme, alongside a sold-out Claridge Lecture from Professor David Olusoga on the history of The Revolution.

It's also your last chance to see Kith & Kin: The Quilts of Gee's Bend before the exhibition closes on 21 June. Don't miss this extraordinary collection, presented in partnership with IMMA and Souls Grown Deep Foundation, and the only opportunity to see it in the UK.

Summer arrives in full with the start of our Summer Series with Garden Lates and outdoor theatre performances, offering the chance to enjoy music, entertainment and spectacular views across the Limpley Stoke Valley on long summer evenings.

We're also looking forward to hosting our Rainbow Family Community Day, alongside a programme of pop-up talks and guided tours throughout the month.

Whether you're discovering one of our exhibitions, enjoying the gardens in bloom, or spending an evening with us under the summer sky, June is a wonderful time to visit.

🌅 BBQ. Bar. Live music. Valley views.

Our first Garden Late of the summer lands next week on Friday 5 June with Last Night's Fun, bringing their infectious mix of Celtic and folk tunes to the gardens.

Bring friends, grab a drink, enjoy some supper from the BBQ and settle in for an evening of toe-tapping music as the sun goes down.

☔ If the weather doesn't play ball, we'll simply move the party into the Deli.

We’re thrilled to announce that a rare original 1776 Declaration of Independence is coming to the American Museum & Gardens.

On loan from the The National Archives, it will be on display from 16 June - 6 September as part of our America 250 programme, this extraordinary document is one of only 26 surviving Dunlap copies in the world, and the only known example intercepted and annotated by British forces during the American Revolution.

Alongside the Declaration, explore exhibitions, events, talks and immersive displays reflecting on 250 years of American history, creativity and culture.

To mark the anniversary, we’ll also be offering special £2.50 weekday admission throughout July.

Plan your visit now. Full details can be found here: www.americanmuseum.org/whats-on/declaration-of-independence.

Missed our Pay-What-You-Can Day yesterday? Don’t worry, there’s another chance to enjoy the American Museum & Gardens for a day of community, creativity and celebration 🌈

Join us on Sunday 14 June for our Rainbow Family Community Day as part of Q***r Bath 2026, come and join the fun, and just pay what you can.

We’re especially delighted to be partnering with Space, the LGBTQ+ youth group delivered by Off the Record Bath & North East Somerset. The Space team will be hosting activities for young people throughout the day, alongside a welcoming breakout space for anyone who may need a quieter moment during the event.

Explore our gardens and grounds, enjoy family activities, bring a picnic or stop by the deli, and spend the day in a welcoming space for LGBTQ+ people, families, friends and allies.

This event day is a fundraiser for the American Museum & Gardens to support our work as a charity with no government funding. On the day of the event, you will be able to donate to enter the site on a pay-what-you-feel basis, based on what you feel it is worth. We ask that you give generously, but if you can’t afford to that’s fine too.
