Four rather lovely postcards of Broadwindsor - if anyone can date them I'd love to hear from you - they are all blank on the back (except for the usual postcard template for content and address).

Beaminster Museum keeps a store of old images from across its catchment area and we always like to see more, especially if they have some annotations to give context. Email us on [email protected] if you have some photographs of the area that you don't know what to do with.

Just 12 more opening days before we prepare for our ever-popular Winter Talks - the calendar will be out soon.

We are open at the following times:

Tues, Thurs, Sat, Bank Holidays: 10:30am - 4:00pm
Sun: 2:00pm to 4:30pm until 4:30pm on 1st November

Locally-made crafts and cards at Beaminster Museum - you won't find these anywhere else in town. Support your local museum by buying from us. Entry to the shop and the museum is free.

LAST CHANCE TO SEE .... if you have been meaning to visit Beaminster Museum this year, you have just a few weeks to do it before we close for the Winter, at 4:30pm on 1st Nov. Our Fire .... Flood ..... Frost exhibition will then be taken down, ready for something different next year.

And of course our shop is open whoever the museum is, with locally-made crafts and cards that you won't find elsewhere in town. And open on a Sunday afternoon too!!

With Dorchester museums struggling, make sure you support your local museum!

What stories are hiding behind Beaminster’s streets and buildings?

A fantastic turnout of 30 people joined Brian Earl for a second Sunday’s Walking History Trail, uncovering some of the fascinating - and occasionally gruesome - stories from the town’s past.

From the grim practices of Beaminster’s tannery and the boom in flax and sailcloth to the town’s granary, largest coaching inn and Civil War history, there was plenty to discover. Brian also revealed the tragic story of a schoolmaster’s daughter who lost her life in one of the great fires that swept through Beaminster.

A big thank you to everyone who came along!

Well, the town trail Brian did on Sunday 13th was so successful he is doing it again on Sunday 20th Sept. If you were busy doing other things on the 13th, here is your chance to join Brian for a reprise of his very entertaining walk around Beaminster. It is sure to add to your knowledge of the town.

To book, please email [email protected] to get payment and joining details. All money raised goes to Beaminster Museum, which is a totally volunteer-run charity. It gets no money from the Council and relies on donations and fund-raising events like this one.
