'Which One Are You' ends tomorrow, don't miss it! QSS is open today and tomorrow 10am–5pm.

Spanning painting, sculpture, installation, videography, ceramics, and conceptual practices, Which One Are You? invites viewers into a space of questioning—of recognition, insight, and materiality of evolution.

The title acts as both provocation and reflection. It suggests a multiplicity of self, asking not only who we are, but how we are seen, how we present ourselves, and how we shift across contexts. In a time shaped by rapid cultural, social, and technological change, identity feels increasingly fluid—constructed, performed, and constantly revisited. This exhibition embraces that sense of instability rather than resolving it.

Exhibiting Artists: Aoife Kearney, Anna McKinstry, Alex Sheridan, Alex Plunkett, BENCOLE, Georgia Esler, Janice Cherry, Jonathan Pratt, Madison Henry, Ronan Lunney, Surbhi, Tanya Troughton

Documentation: Simons Mills

The Push and Pull brings together a series of works that reflect on motherhood through everyday moments of care, closeness, and connection. The work draws on time spent in the west of Ireland, where landscape and light shape a quiet, attentive way of looking and making.

Working with tactile materials, these pieces focus on small, often unnoticed exchanges between parent and child; holding, waiting, watching, returning. The work moves between ideas of nature, the body, and memory, where motherhood is understood as something lived and changing over time.

This exhibition invites a slower way of looking, and a space to consider what it means to nurture; to hold, and to be held.

Which One Are You? brings together a cohort of first-year MFA students from Belfast School of Art, presenting a dynamic and exploratory body of work that reflects the culmination of creative and academic development they have undertaken thus far.

Spanning painting, sculpture, installation, videography, ceramics, and conceptual practices, Which One Are You? invites viewers into a space of questioning—of recognition, insight, and materiality of evolution.

Traces of a Traumatic Future – Frédéric Huska
Lower Gallery, Golden Thread Gallery
Running until Saturday 20 June

QSS artist Frédéric Huska's latest solo exhibition will be open tomorrow night for Late Night Art, alongside Sharon Kelly who is exhibiting in the Upper Gallery! Look at our members go! ⭐️

'Huska explores the relationship between personal experience, history and landscape. This new exhibition features a series of black and white analogue photographs of Taiwan’s coastline, seen as places shaped by political tension and uncertainty. The project focuses on fourteen beaches identified as possible landing sites in the event of invasion. Starting at the sea and moving inland toward the mountains, the photographs follow the shape of the land. The images hold a quiet tension, moving between distance and closeness, presence and absence.

The photographs suggest futures that may never happen, yet still influence how we see the present. Using analogue photography, Huska reflects on time, memory and how images carry traces of both past and future.'

QSS artist new solo exhibition opens tomorrow at – don't miss it!

'In this new body of work, Kelly reflects on what remains hidden or unnoticed and how such absences shape our sense of identity and connection to the world around us. Through the use of vintage sewing patterns, and other delicate materials, Kelly delves into the emotional complexities of concealment and burden, uncovering traces of past lives and contemplating what is missing or left unfulfilled. Pockets become quiet repositories, holding secrets, forgotten memories, or unseen places offering a space where the precious and the heavy coexist. In this excavation of personal history, Kelly explores themes of intimacy, emotional weight, and inherited burden, particularly through the lens of female experience.'
