Special event next week! We will be hosting a series of "behind the scenes" tour and talk with the museum's collector, ahead of our opening in December.
Come and take a guided tour of the objects on display at the UK's (and perhaps the world's) first museum of girlhood to collect and preserve the things owned and loved by young women and girls from the mid 20th Century to the present day.
What to expect - in a group of up to 10 other people (over 16s only), you will be guided through 20 displays, featuring 15 bedroom displays (laid out in dormitory style) where there is a bed, bedding, clothes, toys, ornaments, jewellery, shoes etc from the 1950s/60s/70s/80s/90s and 2000s.
The tour will be led by the museum founder who will point out and explain the objects. There will also be a reminiscing event at the end, where you can peruse vintage Next catalogues, girls annuals, such as Jackie and Bunty, and music magazines. At this stage, you will also be able to handle a small selection of objects.
Demand is likely to be high, so please comment below if you are interested in attending.
Dates and times will be posted very soon.
You can also buy vouchers as Christmas presents.
£10 per person for a 1 hour time slot.
We are based in The Centre, Cumbernauld. Close to the Carickstone Wetherspoons pub, so you can make a day of your visit. Nearest car park is Cumbernauld Centre, Green car park 3.
