This lovely mum and daughters trio visited us today (alongside others who we sadly didn't get photos of!). It's so sad our space isn't big enough for a play area for little ones, as we had hoped, but these girls still seemed to enjoy looking at stuff from the "olden days" (some things that their mum used to have when she was young). 😄

We had quite a few visitors today and looking forward to many more.

The Centre, Cumbernauld is a great space and the people are all so friendly amd welcoming.

The Trendy Tuesday Girl Museum is now open!
They are proud to be the UK's (and likely the world's) first physical museum dedicated to girlhood. The museum shows aspects of life for girls over the decades- highlighting fashion, toys, home furnishings, media and more!
They are a charity, so any donations would be gratefully received.
They are are in the former Brighthouse shop at 20-22 Teviot Walk, near the Carrick Stone pub (Green car park 3). They are not open every day yet as they are still looking for volunteers. These lovely ladies paid a visit to our wee museum in Cumbernauld today. It was an absolute pleasure showing visitors around and hearing their squeals of delight as they connected with some of the objects from their childhoods.

We are proud to be the UK's (and likely the world's) first physical museum dedicated to girlhood.

Please consider visiting us, donating to our tiny wee charity, and spreading the word that we are here. We get zero funding and have lots of bills to pay so we welcome all suppprt, however small, to keep our museum running.

We are in the former Brighthouse shop in The Centre, Cumbernauld, near the Carrick Stone pub (Green car park 3), Teviot Walk. We are not open every day yet as we are still looking for volunteers. Please check Eventbrite for our events and our FB page for open days.

Special event next week! We will be hosting a series of "behind the scenes" tour and talk with the museum's collector, ahead of our opening in December.

Come and take a guided tour of the objects on display at the UK's (and perhaps the world's) first museum of girlhood to collect and preserve the things owned and loved by young women and girls from the mid 20th Century to the present day.

What to expect - in a group of up to 10 other people (over 16s only), you will be guided through 20 displays, featuring 15 bedroom displays (laid out in dormitory style) where there is a bed, bedding, clothes, toys, ornaments, jewellery, shoes etc from the 1950s/60s/70s/80s/90s and 2000s.

The tour will be led by the museum founder who will point out and explain the objects. There will also be a reminiscing event at the end, where you can peruse vintage Next catalogues, girls annuals, such as Jackie and Bunty, and music magazines. At this stage, you will also be able to handle a small selection of objects.

Demand is likely to be high, so please comment below if you are interested in attending.

Dates and times will be posted very soon.

You can also buy vouchers as Christmas presents.

£10 per person for a 1 hour time slot.

We are based in The Centre, Cumbernauld. Close to the Carickstone Wetherspoons pub, so you can make a day of your visit. Nearest car park is Cumbernauld Centre, Green car park 3.
