Our next coffee morning on the 27th June is creeping up incredibly quickly and we are short of raffle and tombola prizes. If anyone can help with donations of suitable items we would be very grateful, as we rely on coffee mornings to raise funds for the everyday running of the museum.
We would also like to thank everyone for their support for these events and if you would like to volunteer to help on the day that would be great.
If you are new to the village or would just like to make new friends and learn about village history please consider volunteering at the museum, we are very friendly and if you are not sure, come along on a Sunday or Wednesday just to have a look round and a cuppa with our volunteers.
Many thanks, Fred and our award winning team.

Our trustees and volunteers would like to extend a heart felt thank you to everyone who supported Bilsthorpe’s Heritage Museum and donated to the online ‘Go Fund Me’ appeal and in person at the museum to help us raise our £2,298 contribution towards the Village hall insurance, we now have enough money to pay the instalments this year. Unfortunately we are likely to be faced with a request for the same amount or more next year as the two buildings have to be insured as one, even though the museum is occupied and maintained on a regular basis while the Village hall is empty.
We are hopeful that the ‘go ahead’ will shortly be given for the repairs to stop the leak between the two buildings, which was reported in early February. If we have more heavy rain there is a risk that the irreplaceable mining mural in our entrance hall will suffer water damage so it is crucial that the repairs be carried out sooner rather than later as it has been three months already.

Despite the unexpected hospitalisation of two of our trustees during February and March, our amazing volunteers and supporters made our Spring coffee morning a huge success, we can’t thank you all enough.
We are now in the position where our Chair will have to make a very slow return over several months and we desperately need anyone who can take over/share admin and secretarial duties in the meantime. If you could spare a couple of hours a week to help us out we would be very grateful, the role will include accessing documents etc on our computer and printing out photos etc as well as helping with the general running of the museum, it can be a shared role, as well as working with our Chair who will show you the ropes. If you would like to join us please ring Alan on 0781390917 or come and visit us during our opening hours, Sunday; Monday and Wednesday 10am ‘til 4pm.

Fred is appealing for help with raising funds to pay our £2,229 bill for buildings insurance. Because Bilsthorpe’s museum is attached to the village hall the whole site is classed as one building, and building insurance has increased by a huge amount because the village hall is empty. The museum’s contribution to this is £2,229 this year and our coffee mornings and donations will not cover this additional expense. If anyone can help us raise funds towards this amount, we would greatly appreciate your help.

Fred's mate Keith from Tuxford Walks of Life has brought us some recruits, unfortunately they ran off when he wasn't looking and have hidden in the museum. Why not bring the kids along to have a look for them all ? There's a sticker and a small bag of Haribo if they can find them all.

Meet some of the team that look after Bilsthorpe's Heritage Museum and are looking forward to the Nottinghamshire Tourism Awards in March, which we are finalists for. Fred keeps us in order, and is in charge of social media ,as well as generally interfering and getting in the way 🤣. He would like to remind everyone that we still have a few calendars left, featuring him of course, we have reduced the price to £3 each, two for £5.
