Hi Everyone,
It’s with a heavy heart, that we have taken the tough decision to close Convenience Gallery after 6 incredible years.
We’ve struggled to find the words to truly express what this has meant to us, and that could even begin to tell the whole story of Convenience Gallery.
From an initial 6 week project in Birkenhead Market, to a Community Interest company running for 6 years we are incredibly proud of the work we have done in Birkenhead and beyond.
We have had the absolute pleasure of working with 443 creative freelancers and artists, we have managed to provide 150 paid opportunities paying £34,000 in payments out to local freelancers, we’ve made free and accessible culture to 41,500+ visitors and we’ve made an immeasurable amount of friends along the way.
We can’t thank you all enough for your support, collaboration and kindness.
We will always as people advocate and champion the arts, and support people from this community in Birkenhead and the creative community whenever we can. And whilst we are sad that this chapter is drawing to a close, we are inspired by and encouraged by the ongoing commitment to arts and culture in Birkenhead, Merseyside and the North in general by so many talented and passionate people working so incredibly hard every day to do interesting, high quality, weird and wonderful things which we will, without question be staying in touch with and hope to visit regularly.
You can see the full archive of our projects, events, exhibitions and everything else from Convenience Gallery from the past 6 years on our site now - conveniencegallery.org. You can read a bit more about our work with tag ESA & tag Kindred as well who have put together some great articles about our impact.
Please keep in touch as we hope to continue work as creatives, artists, curators, producers and all the other job roles we did along the way.
