Apologies for the lack of news, but we are happy to announce the first of our Open Days!

Now taking place on a slightly later date of Saturday 9th May, this is one of two times a year that the Museum Collection Centre is open on a Saturday for visitors to see spaces and collections not on public display.

This year however we are having a bit of a twist! Alongside being able to see the wonderful collections Birmingham Museums has to offer, visitors will get the chance to see the collection through the eyes of contemporary artists. Throughout the day artists will engage with museum objects, creating new interpretations and opening up fresh conversations around the stories they hold.

Visitors will have the opportunity to take part in hands-on activities, watch live demonstrations, and interact with artists working in response to the collection.

We’d love to hear from you if you have visited the Museum Collection Centre before and discovered a personal connection to any of the objects stored here.

Did you drive a vehicle just like one in our transport store? Have you spotted a childhood toy in our stores that you used to play with? Did you operate a machine like one we hold for a past job role?

If you have a story like this and wouldn’t mind sharing it with us, we’d love to hear from you, and we might also want to feature your story in a future media opportunity.
