People write poetry for many reasons. For pleasure, for therapy, for love! It's a good way to express yourself and make senses of the world.

There are many different types of poetry from Byron’s epics to the less flowery interpretations of life from Benjamin Zephaniah. There’s a poet in us all, so why not come along and test your skills? The workshop, ideal for beginners and those who wish to develop their skills, is led by two local writers in an informal, relaxed setting. Bring a notebook and pen.

Course tutors:

Alyson has an MA in Creative Writing and a Ph.D. in Creative Nonfiction and Memoir. She has published academic papers, short stories, poetry, and has run creative writing workshops since 2007. She is currently writing a novel.
