Does anyone have a copy of this photograph?
Our collection is packed away at the moment and I can’t get my hands on it.

It was taken at Wear Valley Junction.

I’ve tried to use an image enhancer on it but it removes the beard from the second man on the steps.

We had a great couple of days at the Gatehouse in Blanchland where Maria, one of our embroiderers, took time out to talk to our visitors about the “Band of Hope” tapestry she is working on. It was quite fascinating to listen to her.

It still doesn’t look pretty but beyond the scaffolding tower you can see that the upstairs floor is laid, the stud work on the walls has been completed ready for mechanical and electrical fitting and insulation, and the new ceiling boards are all in place. A false floor covers the view down from the balcony to be removed when we no longer need access to the ceiling and attic for the wiring.

The next stage is to work on the ground floor.

Not too long before we have our shell ready for furnishing and we can invite you in to have a look round.

Blanchland is a lovely picturesque village for a day out, a stroll and a bite to eat. Next weekend, on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th May we have a Tapestries exhibition in the upstairs room of the Gatehouse courtesy of The Lord Crewe Arms. Two of our tapestries were stitched by local ladies, Hilary Faulkner and Sarah Giles. If you are someone who can’t climb stairs we will be exhibiting at Hexham Abbey at the beginning of September.
