WSR Gauge Museum Model Railway

The branch line splits into two levels: one travels to a hidden fiddle yard and the other to a yet to be constructed terminus station.

The Gauge Museum Model Railway, is an 00 gauge model railway based within the WSHRT operated Gauge Museum on platform 1 at Bishops Lydeard Station, the southern end of the West Somerset Railway. he layout, operated and maintained solely by volunteers, is based on a fictitious location incorporating a fairly large, mainline through station with two branch-lines, a large locomotive shed with an operational turntable and an extensive goods yard which handles a variety of freight. The mainline consists of an "Up" and "Down" passenger line as well as a bi-directional goods line. These pass the locomotive shed, through the station and through the countryside to the fiddle yard, located at the read of the layout. The layout is funded solely by donations from the viewing public, which are gratefully received. We are always seeking new volunteers to help operate, so if your interested feel free to send is a message.

It’s the last day of the West Somerset Railway Spring Steam Spectacular. We’re open in the Gauge Museum on Platform 1 at Bishops Lydeard featuring a display with some familiar locomotives from WSR galas past and present.

Today we are open for the final day of the easter weekend.
We are running a special BR Eastern region display to celebrate the famous trains of the east coast mainline in the BR era.

It’s the second day of the West Somerset Railway 50th anniversary celebrations. We’re open and operating in the Gauge Museum on platform 1 at Bishops Lydeard so do come and see us.

It’s the first day of the West Somerset Railway 50th anniversary event weekend and our first public running day of the season. Do pay us a visit, you may even spot some scenic changes since our last open day! We’re located in the Gauge Museum on Platform 1 at Bishops Lydeard station.
