Bolton Steam Museum 2022 Bolton Steam Museum is one of the most important collections of stationary steam engines in the UK

The Museum is open to the public on Wednesdays and Sundays and holds regular steaming days during the year when the entire collection, now consisting of over 30 engines can be seen working in steam. We also provide private viewing and steam days by appointment.

Our Early Bank Holiday steaming days went off wonderfully. We had plenty of steam to spare. Once again your generosity is heart warming. Thank you. The late May Bank Holiday is almost upon us and it will be super to see you again. As usual its free entry and free parking. At the August Bank Holiday steaming weekend we are celebrating our Diamond Jubilee (1966 - 2026) and we are hoping to make an event of it so pop it in your diary.

Well its fast approaching our first steaming Bank holiday weekend of 2026. Please come along because no matter what the weather is like outside we can honestly say it will be warm and dry inside. As usual its free entry and free parking Sunday - Monday 10am - 4pm.
It is our AGM after Sundays steam day. It will be a busy year ahead of us as during the August Bank Holiday Sunday 30th - Monday 31st, we will be celebrating our Diamond Jubilee and we are hoping to make it a memorable event.

Our final steaming of 2025 was possibility our best ever. We had in excess of 600 visitors and their generosity was astounding. On our second day we had a shortage of steam, this was found to be an engine starting valve left partially open.

Well its fast approaching our final steaming days for 2025. This will take place on Sunday 28th Dec - Monday 29th Dec. Opening times 10am till 4pm both days usual free entry and free parking. Remember it might be cold outside but its nice and warm inside. If you cannot make it we would like to wish you Mery Xmas and hope to see you during our 2026 open days (will be posting dates first week in January).

Bolton Steam Museum would like to thank all our visitors over our Autum steaming weekend. Numbers were down, but the weather was appalling. What never ceases to amaze us is generosity of you, and for this we truly thank you. Our last steaming of 2025 is Sunday 28th Dec and Monday 29th Dec. Well its fast approaching our Autum steaming weekend, so jot this in your diaries 25th and 26th of October. 10am - 4pm usual free entry and parking.....it might be cold and wet outside but its lovely and warm inside. Hope to see old friends and meet new ones.

Well its fast approaching our midsummer steaming weekend.
So this Bank holiday we are open as usual on 24th and 25th August. All engines are running on steam. As usual we are open from 10am till 4pm both days. Free admission and parking. Its a great day out for all the family.
