James Wheelers' oil painting is one of a body of work exhibited in the gallery until 6th November: 'Landscape by Design'.

James was born in 1944 in Glasgow, Scotland. He studied at the Glasgow School of Art, whilst training as a Carpet Designer.
James paints in oils, but on the unusual surface of cork, which he finds, enhances the surface textures that is a character of his paintings. His work straddles the contemporary and the timeless, inviting viewers to a personal interpretation of the paintings.
