You can browse or purchase art work from the likes of Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin, Banksy and many more during the week and on weekends. Tomorrow may be the Monday morning of a new year, but we've still got time for the ultimate round-up party today.

Here are a few highlights from our 2024...

🎨 We attended the business show at the ExCel, meeting likeminded business owners and entrepreneurs.

🎨 John was quoted in various articles regarding the popularity of Banksy and other artists.

🎨 We shared some great art, and found new favourites in our collection.

Thank you for a wonderful year!

What a year its been! πŸ’™

We've had a wonderful year meeting so many new clients and welcoming old friends through the doors of our gallery.

We've taken part in exhibitions and showcases, sold some unique and wonderful pieces, and met some exciting new artists.

As we move into 2025, we want to continue growing in the direction that we are passionate about and that you, our customers, love.

Let us know your favourite artists and what you want to see more of, so we can keep delivering. πŸ–ΌοΈ

What better way to start the final countdown to Christmas - and to the end of the year - than with some of the funniest and most playful works by our favourite modern artist, Alma Singer.

🎨 Alma's work is intrinsically contemporary and always looks through a lens of complete realism - pairing childlike imagery with bold statements and arcing societal questions.

πŸ’™ This piece replaces the concept of the TATE museum with the heading 'TAT', and labels it as a museum on a budget.

(Let's hope this is the only TAT that ends up under anyone's Christmas tree this year!) πŸŽ„

Sadly, Timothy Marwood died peacefully on April 2008 at the age of 53.

However, his artwork lives on in galleries like ours, with some of his original illustrations still turning up in auctions from time to time.

Give the gift of nostalgia, colour, and storytelling this Christmas with a Timothy Marwood original. πŸŽπŸ’™

This is a great example of not only the original black and white illustrations produced by Timothy Marwood, but also how much detail can be packed into an image - even with no colour! πŸ–€πŸ€

Notice how you can still easily distinguish between the different trains and the people on the tracks - colour or not 🎨 This is full credit to the detail and characterisation that Marwood achieves with each train and figure.

πŸ–ΌοΈπŸš‚ "I had the honour of purchasing the entire collection by Timothy when he moved house. During this purchase, he signed each of the 3000+ pieces of artwork and told me that of the 3000, there were probably only about 100 in colour. This is because the comics were coloured by computer which was cheaper for the publishers." - John Brandler πŸ’™

Since 1984, Timothy Marwood has been the sole illustrator for Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends comics produced by Marvel & Redan publishers - with the subsequent popularity of Thomas on TV being largely down to Timothy's work and illustrations. 🎨

Who remembers the Fat Controller? 🎩

While the artwork alone brings colour and vibrance to any room in your home, it's the stories and the characters at the heart of each piece that really make this collection special.

Notice how even the most basic of facial expressions add to the characters and to their emotions, creating reactions and stories within each individual work. For Thomas, it's the eyebrows that give away his emotions while the controller has crinkles at the corners of his eyes to show he is smiling.
