Lyme Bay Arts

Lyme Bay Arts LBA is a not-for profit artists’ company based in the southwest. Lyme Bay Arts CIC is an artists’ and makers’ not for profit organisation.

Its aim is to build a sustainable, member-based platform for individuals and community arts organisations in the Southwest, to collaborate in exhibitions, workshops and other art, educational and social events. We have a permanent gallery space at the Symondsbury Estate near Bridport, and run outreach exhibitions and events, for example at the Lyme Regis Museum.

The courtyard in front of the Sou'-Sou'-West Arts Gallery & Shop is a riot of beautiful wildflowers just now. And beauty inside in the gallery and shop too, with Artwey's "New Directions" exhibition, and our "Creatives" show of smaller works.

Time to re-engage your creativity after the holidays? Demonstration next Tuesday in Lyme.

For the start of the new year, we are lucky enough to have a return visit by Anna Brewster for our next demonstration on Tuesday, 9 January. Last with us in September 2022, Devon-based artist, Anna coped brilliantly when we had problems with our projector. This time she will be showing us how she creates mixed-media landscape paintings.
Anna is a Bristol-born, Sidmouth-based artist and works primarily with watercolour and ink, and acrylics for bigger landscapes and seascapes.
She paints what she sees on her wanderings around this beautiful county, there is always a sketchbook in her rucksack and pencils lurking in the depths of her pockets along with pinecones, seeds, pebbles and all the other bits and pieces she has collected as she goes along.
The demonstration will be held from 2pm to 4pm in Woodmead Halls, Hill Road, Lyme Regis DT7 3PG and both members and guests are welcome. There is a £6 charge for non-members, which will be refunded should you decide to join the society.

Our Story

Lyme Bay Arts is a community interest company formed by a group of people with extensive experience of managing and curating community arts events in Lyme Regis and elsewhere. We originally got together in 2010, and in 2018, formed the CIC to take our project to the next level. We are currently investigating venues in the area, both permanent and pop-ups. We will have our new gallery up and running in the summer, at the Symondsbury Manor Yard, and already have an exhibition in the Langmoor Room in Lyme Regis. Open most days from 10.30-4.30 till 6th July 2019, call in and say hello, and find out about joining us!
