It’s been a pretty amazing week for the volunteers!

Monday and Tuesday saw the installation of solar panels on the roof of the NAAFI all thanks to funding from North Lincolnshire Council’s Community Grant Fund. Installed by R J Coleman Electricals Ltd, we are all extremely grateful for this. Hopefully our very high electricity bills should be reduced a little and we continue to show our commitment to green energy.

We have been gifted a Hawk simulator, used to teach pilots about the instruments etc. in the cockpit. We were also visited by Pauline Lomand who donated her uncle, Wing Commander B E Dick Hogan’s flying suit and uniforms. He flew Mosquito aircraft during the 2nd world war.

On Thursday we were visited by Josh Chapman from BBC Look North and his very interesting report about our Centre and local legend Margaret Horton can be seen on the BBC website, with an airing on Look North early next week.

Our Remembrance Service will be held on the 8th November, details are in the poster below. All are very welcome.

Don’t forget to book your seats for our fund raising concert on Saturday 12th December, again, details are below. The volunteers have been gifted some wonderful raffle prizes but one is really quite special - a 20/30 minute flight in a light aircraft, the voucher being valid until 12th June 2027. As It is a unique opportunity, the volunteers have decided to auction off this flight on the night. If you’d like the chance to take this flight come along and make a bid on the night!

The volunteers of NLAHC have now been working on the site for 7 years! We were first shown around, in September 2019, and greatly helped by the late Clifford Ellis, with his family continuing to support us in all we have achieved to date. Here are a few photos from the start of our project and, when we look back, we are amazed at the speed of progress made (bearing in mind 2020/21 were Covid restricted times) We are very proud that we have welcomed so many visitors from all over the UK and abroad. This would not have been possible without the support of many local companies and businesses who have donated both financially or with much needed materials and the volunteers thank them very much for this.

As an established aviation heritage centre, we were very proud to take part in last Sundays Airbridge Remembrance Ceremony at the Commonwealth and Polish War Cemetery in Newark upon Trent. It’s always a very moving service.

This week saw the volunteers carry out more grounds work and gardening in the dig for victory vegetable plot. The NAAFI continues to be very popular, especially our breakfast!

As we move through October, the volunteers wish to invite you to attend our Remembrance Day service on Sunday 8th November. All are welcome to this brief ceremony and to look around the centre afterwards if you would like to.

Finally, don’t forget our Christmas fundraising concert on Saturday 12th December, details are set out in the poster below. Oh, and here’s a bit of a teaser, one of our raffle prizes promises to lift you off your feet!😉

Reserve your seats soon to avoid disappointment.
