Opening next week in the Project Space:

Don’t Tell Anyone - Amy Shiner
10 - 14 June
12 - 5pm

After years of seeking inspiration in the world around her, grief brought Amy’s art to a standstill. Through Creative Journaling, she found her way back, uncovering the colours, patterns and stories buried within. This exhibition reflects that journey of vulnerability and rediscovery, where journal pages grew into larger, braver works and, finally, into paintings. Shared in the hope that it encourages you to deepen your own connection – with creativity, with yourself, and with the light that shines within us all.
Alongside the exhibition, Amy will be running a Creative Journaling workshop, offering others the space to explore their own stories and creativity.

📌Family workshop - Next Saturday from 11am to 1pm (drop-in)
FREE!

Join us for a free, artist-led workshop inspired by the themes of A Timeline of Infinite Skies for families with children aged 5yrs+

Get creative with artist Ella Hempsted at this family workshop inspired by the exhibition A Timeline of Infinite Skies. Join us to explore pattern, colour, and texture together as you create your own hanging fabric artwork. Using blue inks and a range of shaped printing blocks, you’ll create unique prints and playful patterns onto fabric panels. Once your designs are dry, you can bring them together using a sewing machine to create a hanging piece to take home and display.

Our family workshops are for children aged 5yrs+ to enjoy being creative together with their parents / carers. Artist-led and inspired by the themes of our exhibition programme they are a great opportunity to have fun and explore different materials.

All workshops are free and drop-in so there’s no need to book.

Opening next week in the Project Space:

Cherry Blossom Project .cook3
27th May- 7th June
Wednesday – Sunday, 12noon – 5pm

An exciting installation of over 4000 naturally dyed, hand stitched mandus (Korean dumplings) mobiles.

Created by artist, Sara Cook using traditional Korean silk organza and by more than 800 participants from the around the UK and from 20 other countries. Individuals registered to buy a kit of materials and then posted back the completed mobiles to her.

Making mandus is part of the ancient Korean tradition of bojagi (wrapping cloths). Mandus were made from small pieces of fabric to wrap messages of good wishes and gifted to friends. As part of this project participants were encouraged to include their own messages of good wishes inside one of their mandus.

Designed to welcome the arrival of spring and make wider cultural connections, the installation provides an immersive experience for quiet contemplation and to be reminded of the changing season. The project shows the power of a collective act of stitching to create something that has great impact and bring joy to so many. Our need to connect to the handmade seems ever more pressing as our lives become increasingly dominated by technology.
