the new collective invites proposals from newly emerging artists in the Bristol or surrounding areas to apply for an 8 week residency and exhibition opportunity. Selected artists will work on their proposed project for this duration and showcase their artworks in a final group exhibition. We encourage applications from artists working in contemporary and experimental mediums, parallel to the collective’s own pioneering ethos. This may include installation and interactive pieces, textual, video and audio art, photography, textile, sculpture and beyond: all mediums are welcome. Artists’ work will identify with the theme of discovery, perhaps address scientific or self-discovery, constructing representations of adventure and travel, or investigating the possibilities and limitations of materials and space. However artists seek to express the theme of discovery, the focus remains on their own discoveries and developments as artists and on the artistic process itself. Throughout this experience artists are free to test new ideas and develop an independent enquiry within their own practice. We are looking for individuals with ambition and a desire to progress their artistic practice. The residency and exhibition will take place at Philadelphia Street, a gallery uniquely situated amongst the developing and vibrant environment of Cabot Circus. the new collective will support selected artists by:

• Offering the chance for artists to manage their own studio space and work independently of an educational setting

• Encouraging artists to forge professional relationships amongst themselves and integrate within the thriving arts scene in Bristol

• Creating a community that encourages communication, collaboration and experimentation in a shared studio environment

• Providing a platform for newly emerging artists to showcase their work within the public realm

• Assisting artists in hosting workshops, open studio days and giving talks

• Engaging with the public and promoting the activity of our artists

• By providing some artist materials
