We've continued to see a great response to our 'Fit for the Future' Appeal, continuing to see donations come in from our fantastic supporters and community! This includes funds raised by 12-year-old Jack as part of his sponsored running and walking.

After a few months of work by our engineers, our 0-4-0DM Andrew Barclay 'Grumpy' is back in service!

This work involved new piston rings, alongside replacement of one of the big end bearings, which was re-metalled in-house at the Avon Valley Railway's workshop.

The locomotive has an interesting history, having been built and supplied for the war effort, and shipped over to France shortly after the D-Day landings to support the Allied Forces' efforts!

12-year-old Jack has been undertaking 50 miles of sponsored running and walking throughout May to support our 'Fit for the Future' Appeal - and has now reached the end of his challenge, having raised £1,140!
