This year BOP will take place on 17 and 18 OCT and coincide with the opening week of Bristol Photo Festival.

We'll be starting our series of Instagram takeovers next week, in which publishers showcasing new work at BOP will be sharing a little behind what they have been up to and what they will be bringing to the festival weekend ⭐️

In the meantime, we’re busy confirming some exciting activities for the BOP 26 programme, which we will be able to share more information on shortly.

BOP is Bristol’s annual photobook festival, brought to you by Martin Parr Foundation.

Today would have been Martin Parr's 74th birthday 💙

When not away on shoot, Martin was at the Foundation on a day-to-day basis, making rounds of tea for the team, developing his latest works, welcoming visitors, tidying away the recycling, and calling out to the studio from the MPF library to put on a House, Daft Punk or Van Morrison playlist.

We miss Martin greatly. While we continue to adapt to a new rhythm here at the Foundation without him, we have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love from the photography community and those who have been influenced by Martin or touched by his work.

Martin will always be in our hearts.

Here is behind the scenes look at the printing of the next MPF exhibition 👉 Tangerine Dreams: Rituals of Belonging in Contemporary British Life by Sophie Green.

Sophie has been working closely with Martin Parr Foundation as we develop test prints together, adjusting the colour tones and balance the details in the highlights and shadows with the overall contrast of the image. After several rounds of refining, we produce the final exhibition prints.

Here is a behind the scenes look at the printing of our new hardback publication to accompany our current exhibition, The Last Resort, 40 Years On 🍦 bit.ly/4mOh8b7

We worked closely with our friends and local printers Taylor Brothers on the production 💪 Here you can see some of our team on press with reference prints for the printing, which was done using offset lithography.

The exhibition catalogue brings together many images from The Last Resort alongside new texts, a look at Martin's contact sheets from the time, as well as an insight from Peter Brawne, who worked with Martin to design the original 1986 publication. This has been co-published by MPF and Dewi Lewis 🙌
