The Vestibules

The Vestibules The Vestibules are within City Hall with their own entrance from the front of the building. Each Vestibule space looks out onto Park Street and College Green.

The Vestibules are two exhibition spaces each end of City Hall overlooking College Green that showcase Bristol talent and give cultural and community groups unique environments to display their work. THE VESTIBULES are exhibition spaces each side of City Hall overlooking College Green which have been opened up by the city to showcase Bristol talent and give cultural and community groups unique env

ironments to display their work. We have teamed up with Bristol City Council’s Arts Development Team to open up The Vestibules for a variety of uses such as:

-Exhibition Space
-Theatre & Immersive performance space
-Talks & Workshops
-Launch Events
-Photo-shoot & filming space
-Pop up fashion shops
-Pop up arts and crafts shops
-Live Music events
-Christmas markets
-Consultation meetings. The two identical spaces, both available for use independently or together, offer an opportunity to make use of a city centre, street facing location within one of the city’s most iconic buildings. Individuals and groups wanting to take up the opportunity will also gain valuable experience of working closely with the Arts Development Team and make use of the Grade II* listed space. Both Vestibules spaces are wheelchair accessible premises and there are wheelchair accessible facilities on the site. Artspace Lifespace’s main vision for The Vestibules is to create an innovative and exciting creative space within the City Hall to support creativity in Bristol by showcasing work and sharing ideas. We will be curating a very exciting programme of monthly events, ranging from exhibitions, workshops, art & crafts pop-up shops, small theatre shows, fashion markets and so much more! Goodbye to The Vestibules!
After 8 years of running these two unique exhibition spaces either side of City Hall we have decided to close them due to rising operational and security costs.

“We’re incredibly proud of what The Vestibules has achieved,” said Kathryn Chiswell Jones, CEO at Artspace Lifespace. “It’s been a platform for experimental, community-led and socially engaged art – unfortunately something that’s not easily supported by private investment models. We’re grateful to the Bristol City Council Arts & Events team for their efforts to help secure a sustainable future for the space.”

Despite the farewell, The Vestibules’ creative legacy will continue. Artspace Lifespace is delighted that Coe Gallery will maintain a seasonal exhibition programme in the space, while the Pride Hub will remain based at The Vestibules with ongoing support from Bristol City Council.
