Sometimes history can throw up some funny coincidences! Many of you will of see my earlier post regarding fundraising to try and purchase 1st Lieutenant Scott Naedele’s A2 jacket.

Just been researching Scott and he arrived at Stalag Luft III at Sagan on the 30th April 1944, of which today is the anniversary! He was in West camp, hut 161, room 9, the foundations of which are still extent! He was also on the Long March.

We have now agreed a purchase price of $1500 and need to raise another £500 to bring this jacket home.

Help required! Can you help us with a donation to help the museum purchase this original A2 jacket that would have been worn in the museum buildings back in 1944?

The jacket belongs to First Lieutenant Scott Naedele who was shot down while flying his P47 Thunderbolt from Bottisham on April 18, 1944 and was held as a Prisoner of War.

The museum is now housed in the 375th FS buildings and Scott would have walked in them. It would be great to bring this jacket home!

It is currently listed on an auction site for $7500 but is open to offers and we be attempting to negotiate with the seller to agree a more reasonable valuation.

If you are able to help with a donation however large or small please leave a comment below. We can then contact you if the museum is successful in acquiring the jacket.
