Not only will we be offering craft activities in the Cast Gallery throughout half term, but on Thursday 28 May you'll get your chance to prove your mettle as an ancient hero.

Try out hands-on crafts, follow a new trail, make your own armour, and design a monster to defeat in battle - all in one legendary afternoon.

We are thrilled to announce that Tom de Freston's exhibition, Poíēsis, has been extended!

You'll be able to explore de Freston's luminous, dreamlike work in our Cast Gallery until Oct 17, 2026.

If you'd like to discover poíēsis for yourself, we're open Tue-Fri 10am-5pm, and Saturday 2-5pm.

Today in 1884 the Museum of Classical and General Archaeology opened on Little St Mary’s Lane (where it stayed until 1982), making this the Museum’s 142nd birthday.

Many of our casts are, of course, in their birthday suits for the special day – the pictures below show else they’ve been celebrating. 🎉🎉

If you’d like to visit in our birthday week, we’re open Tue-Fri 10am-5pm, and open on Saturdays from 2-5pm. Pop in and say hello!
