Did you know that our building wasn’t always a museum? To mark International Museums Day, let’s take a look at some of its history.

The building the Museum of Cambridge is in today dates back at least to the sixteenth century. It was the White Horse Inn from before 1720 until 1934 and was only empty for two years before the museum was established in 1936.

Various extensions over the years mean the building has taken on rather an eccentric character. We hope you come to love the winding stairs and uneven floor as much as we do – although make sure to watch your step!

Half-term Book Sale and Café at the Museum ☕📚

Join us on the first Saturday of Half-term from 11 am - 4 pm for a pop-up second hand book sale and café.

We'll have a selection of children's books, classics, and novels. Browse books with a drink and a cake from our pop-up café all while supporting the Museum of Cambridge!
