The Vision
A city’s character is defined by its cultural spaces. Galleries are more than rooms with paintings; they are the heart of a region’s narrative. Cumbria Art Scene (C.A.S.) Gallery is here to tell that story in the heart of Carlisle.
The Opportunity
Carlisle is the urban gateway to a county that attracts 47 million visitors and generates £4.7 billion annually. Yet, for too many, the city is a transit point rather than a destination. While surrounding towns champion local work, our regional capital lacks a central platform to showcase the full breadth of Cumbrian talent.
C.A.S. Gallery is the missing piece of our creative identity.
What We Are Building
We aren't just opening an exhibition venue; we are establishing a large-scale creative hub in the heart of the city.
Flagship Exhibition Space: Showcasing a curated selection of painting, sculpture, photography, ceramics, and contemporary craft.
Artist-Led Spaces: Flexible areas available for hire, empowering artists to curate their own solo or collaborative professional shows.
The Workshop Hub: A community-focused space for classes, demonstrations, and artist talks.
Curated Retail: A dedicated space for artist greeting cards, artisan works, and specialist literature.
Why Now?
With the Station Gateway regeneration underway and Carlisle recently named the Most Welcoming City in the UK, our city is entering a new era of growth. C.A.S. Gallery ensures that our local artists are not just spectators of this renewal, but the driving force behind it.
Our goal is simple: To transform Carlisle into a cultural destination where visitors experience art deeply connected to the Cumbrian landscape and its people.
