From Discarded to Desired

Our current exhibition ‘Found Objects’ is more than a celebration of the unwanted.

It’s a meditation on what we throw away - and what we choose to keep. A moment to reflect on the reasons we choose to covet certain items, and overlook others.

Brian Rice’s sculptural works inspire the possibility of renewal.

These vibrant works are available to purchase online or via the gallery. Go to the link in our Bio to explore the online exhibition and view prices.

Brian Rice : Found Objects

Exhibition Now Live Online. See link in Bio.

Brian Rice is best known for his richly coloured, meticulously crafted abstract paintings—a legacy spanning over six decades.

Since the 1960s, Rice has also been quietly gathering fragments: street-market finds, archaeological discoveries, board-game pieces, scraps of metal and textile - even treasures unearthed from a Victorian tip eroding through the cliffs at Lyme Regis.

Each object, once discarded, now recalibrated into arresting sculptural collages and constructions.

Our Exhibition, Brian Rice: Found Objects, brings this lesser-known practice into the light.

Join us for a Private View on Thursday 18th 5.30 - 7.30 at The Viewing Room in Castle Cary.

Barbara Hepworth (1903-1975) | Orchid, 1970

“I do not believe that women are in competition with men. I believe that they have a sensibility, a perception and a contribution to make which is complementary to the masculine and which completes the total experience of life”.

This work is from a portfolio of 12 prints entitled ‘Opposing Forms’.

Known primarily for her work as a sculptor, Dame Barbara Hepworth also produced many works on paper. Orchid echoes Hepworth’s sculptural language: with themes and characteristics found in her sculptures; where curved voids and abstract feminine forms and ancient circles create tension and movement.

This piece is one of three Hepworth works currently on show for another week as part of our Summer Exhibition at The Viewing Room, 13 Fore Street, Castle Cary.

We are open every day by appointment or drop in 10-5 Thurs, Fri & Sat.

Terry Frost | Blue Life’s Bowl of Cherries and Life is Just a Bowl of Cherries, 2003

“Life is just a bowl of cherries and nearly every one of them is good”

One of two pieces currently on show in our Summer Exhibition. A glazed ceramic bowl and screen print embodying one of Frost’s favourite sentiments.

Painter, printmaker and teacher Sir Terry Frost RA (1915-2003), was a key figure in the development of British twentieth-century abstract art, renowned for his bold use of colour and shape, who worked in Newlyn, Cornwall.

We are open 10-5 Friday & Saturday and always by appointment.

It is with a heavy heart that, seven months after our last charity exhibition, Gaza is in an even more urgent and unimaginable state of crisis. Like so many, I have often felt powerless but we can turn to art as a way to act, to connect, and to contribute.

The human suffering has only deepened, and the need for aid is now more critical than ever.
To support the ongoing relief efforts:

* 10% of all purchases made in the gallery or via the website over the next two months will be donated

* We are also offering a special collection of 20 framed Breon O’Casey cards (£250 each) with 100% of proceeds being donated.

* Even if you do not make a purchase, please consider donating directly. Thank you for your ongoing support.

For the full list of available framed works please see story, link in bio or DM. All proceeds will be split equally between and

In Pursuit of Beauty - Enterprise Woven into Art

Delighted to share our collaboration with showing 27 artist rugs produced by our friends at the Säid Business School, part of Oxford University. Although this exhibition is not open to the public, we invite you to view the talk given by Christopher Springham and Reneé Adams discussing how art can create value in business as well as the private view with the full catalogue of rugs on display, all of which are available to purchase. (Links to these in stories)

Christopher Farr is a company we have long admired, at the heart of their business lies a remarkable story of risk-taking, resourcefulness and reinvention- all qualities found in entrepreneurship. Each rug in this collection is a testament to the power of collaboration, vision and the relentless pursuit of beauty and excellence. They remind us that entrepreneurship is not just about products or profits; it is about creating enduring value through innovation and passion.

We have some exciting developments launching in 2025, which we’ll be announcing in the New Year. But for now, it’s time to switch off and enjoy the festivities.

With very best wishes from all the team,
