G-BEOZ was built in 1960, It has 4 engines, and during its working life was used as a cargo aircraft, it's current holding place is as a centrepiece at East Midlands Aeropark, Located in Castle Donington.

After several weeks of being closed to visitors whilst the interior had a makeover, it is looking clean and bright.

The seated area still needs AV capabilities adding to finish the job.

Our dehumidifiers now expel the condensate directly outside avoiding the need to empty drain buckets.

The handrail for the cockpit stairway has been extended to make stepping into the cockpit a more confident experience for visitors.

In the next couple of weeks the stairway will also have anti slip capping applied to the steps.

Hopefully, in the next few weeks, providing the ground continues to dry, you will see us back outside on scaffolding to start the final phase of restoration to complete the grand old plane this year.

A STORY FOR CHRISTMAS

Twas the night before Christmas Eve and I had a WhatsApp call from Santa with a cry for help!
He seemed very stressed as he told me that the bottom had fallen out of his sleigh and he didn’t know how he was going to get all the presents delivered on the eve of Christmas.
He said he remembered seeing the Argosy here at the East Midlands Aeropark last year when he was making his deliveries especially the words on the booms that said
“The Overnight Delivery System”
He was hoping some of the Elves at the aeropark could assist and make the Argosy available for 24hrs?
“Of course we can”, I replied without hesitation and we preceded to make arrangements.
Just after the last message I looked out of the window and it had started to snow!
As if by magic there was a bright light in the sky and there he was, Santa himself!
The Aeropark Elves came out of the Magic Grotto commonly known as Hanger No2 with more presents that I have ever seen.
In a few minutes the cargo hold door was open and loading was underway. The hold was quickly stacked with colourful packages with addresses all over the world.
I could hear over the radio the EMA ATC had cleared all traffic and was ready for Santa to get on his way.
The Argosy groaned with such a heavy load but soon it was whistling its way down the runway and up into the night sky.
Well lets hope he gets the Argosy back in one piece before anyone notices.
Our work is now done for this year so all that is left is for the Argosy Elves to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

65 years ago today our Argosy G-BEOZ rolled out of the hangar at RAF Bitteswell and made its inaugural flight and to start its final tweaks and checks before departing for its first customer in Florida.
Initially it carried its temporary registration G-1-7 before starting working life in Jan 61.
