Just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who made the time to visit and made purchases, conversations and shared laughter at our open house last weekend. Really appreciate it!

Biggest thanks to all our makers and artists who took part in our Open House. So grateful to have all of you and your beautiful work in our house. Much love 🥰⭐️

You and Me and the Sea

Brighton and the sea through the seasons, The Piers and promenade. A collection of prints for feelings of friendship and love.

Art prints shifted toward people — placed in the corners of the world I love. Quiet tenderness, sun-soaked afternoons, tea by the sea. From Paris and Picasso to Hove and home, evolving. Colour got richer: pinks, reds, yellows — driven by emotion rather than sight. My sketchbooks are now a constant company; confident lines catching moments before they slipped away. Drawing friends, myself, the spaces in-between — where love quietly lives. The architecture loosened, gave way to fluid lines, moving and alive.

I’m thrilled to show a new body of work at 92 Montpelier Road with a collective of artists and artisans.

These new original pieces grew from a desire to step outside my comfort zone — to explore more spirited and expressive mark-making through ink, pastel, and mixed media. Each drawing is created on a page from a 1912 edition of The Oxford Book of Victorian Verse, linking the immediacy of drawing from life with the literary echoes of the past.

The series began with portraits and studies of hands from the life drawing sessions I run at , and then expanded to Brighton’s streets and surrounding landscapes. Each piece pairs with a Victorian poem that resonates with its subject — a dialogue between image and verse that has led me on a fascinating journey through the era’s poetry and personalities.

I am Alej Ez, short for Alejandro Martinez Rodriguez. I am a Spanish architect and artist living in the UK for 25 years. I live in Brunswick Square Hove, I am your neighbour.
