I have been gifted a wonderful talent, and despite charging for my services, every year I decide to pay forward my gift to someone free of charge. Someone I feel has earned/deserved it.
It can be an individual or a family, as was the case last year, but always a person who has done the amazing stuff, maybe overcome a seemingly impossible situation, achieved an outstanding goal, fought and won against insurmountable odds, and just occasionally, a person who has affected me. There were a couple of contenders this year, but the lady (for that is exactly what she is) who turned me around, and in such a profound way, without even realising the impact of her personality is Emily Morris, a member of staff at the gym which I joined in January. During some dark times after the loss of my special one, this youngster made me start smiling again. There were still blips throughout the year, but without Emily changing my outlook so early on, those blips could have been much worse.
I gave her the piece yesterday, thankfully she was elated with it, and I was so very happy that I could give something back to show my appreciation.
Graphite work using Caran Daché pencils, colour with Faber Castell Polychromos pencils, and all embellished on Stonehenge, hot pressed 320 gram, 100% cotton paper.
I loved every single minute of effort, especially layering the hair and seeing it materialise.
It's titled "The only colour in motherhood."
