An exhibition of oil paintings by Tom Gowen
This exhibition features a large body of work inspired by the natural landscape primarily with oil paint on canvas using impasto palette knife techniques. My focus is to convey my emotive reaction to the subject using colour, energy and light. I spent 25 years in Gloucestershire where I studied Fine art. My work includes seascape, landscape and wildlife and I have exhibited regularly throughout Gloucestershire where my work is well known as well as other exhibitions including the RSMA in London.
“I cannot remember a time when I was not drawing and painting. It is simply how I live.”
I studied fine art at Pittville Cheltenham (University of Gloucestershire) this has helped develop my approach to painting and shape what I want to achieve with my work. I enjoy the feel of using natural material to convey the beauty I see in nature. I always start by thinking about my reaction, what it is in the subject that I feel I want to share.
“When the work goes well I like to think it will go to a good home -that someone will enjoy that reaction whenever they look at it.”

We are an eclectic group of enthusiastic artists who get together on a Friday morning. Under Sheila Bryant’s guidance we tackle that ultimate artistic challenge otherwise known as the portrait.
We had our first exhibition in the Gardens Gallery in May 2024. It was a great success, so much so that we will be exhibiting again in the Gardens Gallery. The exhibition will be open from Wednesday 20th May 1 pm until Tuesday 26th May 1pm. On other days, we will be open from 10 am until 5 pm.

This is an exhibition of those wonderful creations for you to enjoy, talk about and to be inspired by.
The exhibitors are:
Adrian Ham, Alan Williams, Anne Blane, Anthony Lewis, Bob Gower, Charmaine Williamson, Christine Wisdom, Colleen Huckerby, Gilly Hamilton, Hazel Jukes, Joan French, Karen Bloch, Marilyn Hay, Murray Macfarlane, Sandra Edgington, Sheila Bryant, Simon Howe, Will Clapton.

Brighter Days brings together five artists whose work explores colour, emotion and the natural world. Claret Claire creates vibrant, energetic paintings inspired by the human form and organic shapes, including her expressive JOY series. Caroline Evans paints close up floral studies in oils and acrylic inks, shaped by her long background in art education and her love of natural light. Andreea Dragne transforms botanical forms, landscapes and microscopic imagery into textured abstract works using mixed media and resin. Jenny Hannam moves between abstraction and realism in colour rich paintings shaped by landscape and nature. Andrew Vaughan creates Raku ceramic pieces through what he fondly calls “the alchemy of pottery,” reflecting his connection to the rolling Cotswold hills surrounding his home and studio. Together, they offer a harmonious celebration of creativity across painting, abstraction and ceramics.
