Meet our new guest Artist & Jeweller, Amelia Bowen-Rey! ✨

“Based in Llanishen in the stunning Wye Valley, I create colourful gemstone jewellery designed to bring joy to everyday dressing. Inspired by nature and the uplifting spirit of dopamine dressing, each piece is thoughtfully handmade using vibrant gemstones.

What began as a creative escape from the busy life of raising three young sons has grown into a passion-led business, with my collections now proudly stocked in local craft shops across the area.”

5 unusual but absolutely wonderful items you’ll always find in our stores 👀

🍫 Chocolate. From bars packed crisps to nostalgically Welsh treats.

🕊 Hanging art that brings joy in your home. Wooden birds, stained glass, curious little things suspended above your head.

🧶 Felted creations everywhere. Wool is the cornerstone Monmouthshire’s heritage and we love celebrating it through handmade textures and tiny details.

🐭 Mice. Tiny felt mice hidden around the shop, quietly greet you from shelves and corners. Once you spot one, you’ll start seeing them everywhere.

🎨 Paintings by local artists. The walls are never just walls.

♟ Ways to play. Chess boards, playing cards, little invitations to put your phone down and stay awhile.

Meet our New Guest Artist ✨
Martin Solomon is an artist based in Raglan, near Monmouth.

He began painting in 2021 after the lockdowns, rediscovering a love of art that started in childhood. He loved painting alongside his father, who had been a huge inspiration to him.

Originally trained in photography, Martin now works full-time supporting adults with learning difficulties. His calm, thoughtful approach carries through into his artwork.
He mainly uses a wet-on-wet technique, letting colours move and blend naturally on the page.
He also experiments with pen and ink, sometimes adding fine details afterwards to gently bring pieces to life.

For Martin, painting is his way to slow down. His work invites you to pause, and maybe feel like you’ve stepped into a bolder colour version of places you may recognise.

Why we created The Boat House Gallery:

Too often, it’s nerve-racking to walk into places filled with art. Hidden prices tags and a creepy silence of hollow room.

The Boathouse Gallery was created to change that feel. A place where you can comfortably step inside, take your time, and simply enjoy discovering work by talented artists and makers.

Jen created these wonderful spaces to feel warm, welcoming, and accessible to everyone 💕

Yesterday we had a gorgeous new arrival in all stores as we welcomed our latest guest artist ✨

Meet our new maker: Emma from 💙

Emma creates beautiful handmade resin pieces inspired by the natural world, using real flowers, foliage and botanical treasures. She grows and presses many of the flowers herself, making every piece completely unique 🌿

Alongside her jewellery, gifts and homeware, Emma also runs fun creative workshops where you can have a go at making your own botanical creations.

Her current fave? These stunning kingfisher earrings with forget-me-nots 💙 Honestly, they’re gorgeous.

We’ve now started our run of guest artists at the Boathouse Gallery, which means you’ll see fresh new work arriving in the shop every week ✨ Pop in regularly and see what’s new!

There’s a few spots worth knowing about!! Botanica has gorgeous plants and a decent place to sit for a delicious lunch. The cinema’s a great experience!
