On 14 October we had a grand unveiling of the Clydach Junior School tapestry at the Heritage Centre in the company of Alastair Duncan (the artist who designed and supervised the making back in the late 1990’s), Cllr Gordon Walker who made the mount, children from the primary School with Mr McComas their teacher and Mrs Rhian Thomas who was head teacher when the tapestry was made. Also present were Wendy and Joan who rescued the tapestry and remembered that they had stored it in Joan's loft before offering it to the Heritage Centre.
Alastair explained that this was a real tapestry, fully woven, and not like the Bayeux Tapestry which is actually an embroidery!.
The picture of the tapestry shows the various sites in the village, how many can you recognise? There is an explanatory leaflet in the Heritage Centre if you want to check your answers.
