personally and he used his photography as a tool for positivity.

Mark's 'City' work is located on the First Floor Central Gallery (by Cardiothoracic Critical Care) and 'Landscapes' are on ground by the Floor Fracture Clinic - until late September.

As we come to the end of our first season of work welcoming our wonderful new partners, , to UHCW, we are thrilled to share that we will be continuing with more visits planned for the autumn and winter.

This has been made possible thanks to donations to , alongside Akademi’s own fundraising efforts.

The project brings the art of South Asian dance to ward bedsides, delivered through beautiful performances, followed by opportunities for patients to take part in gentle upper-limb movements.

The sessions have been so warmly received and loved by our patients. We’ll be sharing more stories and images soon!

A beautiful moment captured of Ben aka , our fabulously talented musician in residence at UHCW. Ben regularly visits our Care of the Elderly and General wards. He also collaborates with our resident dance company, Barefooted Arts, composing and performing original music for bedside performances.

"Thank you so much for allowing me a moment of relaxation during a stressful time." - Patient

"Ben not only plays beautiful music, he makes patients feel included whilst doing so by encouraging them to sing along to his music. He has a great personality and it provides a real comfort to patients when they need it most" - Volunteer

Summer Exhibition - Artist Spotlight:
Anna Stiles
A Complex Pelvis

A Complex Pelvis is a series of excerpts from artist Anna Stiles’ personal sketchbook and is part of a larger body of self-initiated work which documents her own diagnosis and ongoing treatment for grade four endometriosis, adenomyosis and infertility.

This work was born out of a desire to make sense of this deeply personal experience and its name explores the language used by a gynaecologist to describe the advanced and complicated nature of these often misunderstood conditions.

Anna's work is located on the First Floor Central Gallery (by Cardiothoracic Critical Care) until September.

Summer Exhibition - Artist Spotlight:
John Freeman

John Freeman is a Woodcut and linocut printmaker based in Warwickshire.

After being introduced to Woodcut printmaking in the Foundation year of his
BTEC studies printmaking has totally captured John’s imagination.
The woodcut and linocut prints that John makes are inspired by the architecture
and landscapes of the area he was born in and grew up, Nuneaton and the
surrounding areas

John's work is located on the First Floor Central Gallery (by Cardiothoracic Critical Care) until September, and is available to purchase. a Donation of sales is made to Arts Fund.

Summer Exhibition - Artist Spotlight:
Work of Joy (Sandy Archer)

Sandy Archer is a mixed media artist whose work captures the colour, light, and feeling of a place, and a moment in time.

Inspired by travel and everyday surroundings that often get overlooked. Sandy creates vibrant, expressive pieces that focus on the essence of a place rather than a literal representation.

Her work is rooted in a simple idea: life isn’t about getting it right, but about seeing it your way. Sandy adds detail and vibrancy to a place to bring a moment alive, so it’s impossible to forget, inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and experience it differently.

Sandy also runs creative experiences that encourage people to see a place through their own eyes, colour it with their own views, and write their own story, capturing moments in a way that feels personal, meaningful, and real.

Sandy's work is located on the First Floor Central Gallery (by Cardiothoracic Critical Care) until September, and is available to purchase. a Donation of sales is made to Arts Fund.
