(1880)
Ar y diwrnod hwn yn 1880, ffarweliodd David Lloyd George a’i deulu â’u cartref yn Highgate, gan adael lle oedd yn llawn atgofion plentyndod a chysylltiadau teuluol dwfn.
Wrth symud ymlaen i Morvin House, nid dodrefn yn unig a symudwyd. Roedd Lloyd George yn arbennig o falch o redyn cyfrdwy oedd wedi tyfu yn yr ardd yn Highgate – a chafodd hwnnw hefyd ei ddadwreiddio a’i ailblannu’n ofalus yng ngardd fach gefn Morvin House.
Manylyn bach ond pwerus sy’n adlewyrchu’r berthynas emosiynol â chartref, natur a theulu, ar drothwy pennod newydd ym mywyd un a fyddai’n mynd ymlaen i siapio hanes Cymru a Phrydain.
(1880)
On this day in 1880, David Lloyd George and his family said farewell to their home at Highgate, leaving behind a place filled with childhood memories and deep family connections.
As they moved on to Morvin House, it wasn’t just furniture that was taken. Lloyd George was particularly proud of a royal fern growing in the garden at Highgate — and this too was uprooted and carefully replanted in the small garden at the back of Morvin House.
A small but powerful detail, reflecting an emotional attachment to home, family and nature at the threshold of a new chapter in the life of someone who would go on to shape the history of Wales and Britain.
