Coldharbour Mill located in Uffculme, Devon (EX15 3EE), is one of the oldest woollen mills in the United Kingdom, operating continuously since 1797. Originally owned by the world-renowned Fox Brothers, the mill processed fleece sourced from around the globe, transforming it into high-quality yarn, cloth, and textiles.

Today, its remarkable legacy is preserved as one of Britain’s finest working wool museums. Visitors can experience the sights, sounds, and atmosphere of the Industrial Revolution while watching skilled craftspeople produce traditional textiles, beautiful knitting yarns, and handwoven cloth using historic machinery and time-honoured techniques still in operation today.

A huge congratulations to Aoibheann, our Volunteer of the Month! 👏🎉

Aoibheann has been part of the mill since January 1st, with her very first day being spent jumping straight into the action and helping out in the café during our traditional New Year’s Day Steam Day! 💨

📚 Juggling college life while still making time to volunteer, Aoibheann is a wonderful example of giving back to the local community while learning along the way 💚

When we asked Aoibheann why she started volunteering, she told us she was looking for local activities to get involved in. She loves learning new skills, chatting with people and making lovely memories during her time at the mill 🥰🤝

A huge thank you to Aoibheann for giving up her time, bringing her enthusiasm and being part of our mill community!
