🎨 MEET OUR UPSTAIRS ARTIST OF THE MONTH – GILLI B ILLUSTRATION! 🎨

I’m absolutely delighted to have the lovely Gilli B Illustration as our upstairs Artist of the Month for October! 🥰

Gilli is a talented Fife-based illustrator whose beautiful, bright and colourful artwork is inspired by the charming harbour towns and villages of Fife. Her work is full of character, colour and a wee touch of sparkle! ✨

Gilli studied Illustration and Printmaking at DJCAD before later returning to study an MSc in Forensic Art. She’s now a published illustrator working from her wee studio in the Kingdom of Fife!

Her gorgeous mixed-media pieces combine traditional painting techniques with contemporary illustration, using acrylic paints, graphite, pencils and more. And of course, she finishes her work with her signature sprinkle of sparkle and gold leaf! ✨

🥂 AND YOU CAN MEET GILLI THIS SUNDAY!

Our Meet the Artists Event is happening:

📅 Sunday 11th October
⏰ 4–6pm

🎨 MEET OUR DOWNSTAIRS ARTIST OF THE MONTH – RORY DUFF 🎨

I’m delighted to have Rory Duff as our downstairs Artist of the Month for October!

Rory is a local Fife artist who began painting at around 14 before going on to study Fine Art at DJCAD, where he developed his love of working in oils.

His work explores all things surreal and ethereal, often drawing inspiration from nature, Scotland and the female form. His current series, My Peculiar Summer, looks at thoughts, memories and feelings through a slightly skewed and dreamlike view of the world, with some absolutely gorgeous uses of colour.

Rory builds his paintings up slowly using the fat over lean technique, layering oil paint and linseed oil to create depth and richness in his work.

🥂 And you can meet Rory this Sunday!

Our Meet the Artists Event is happening:

📅 Sunday 11th October
⏰ 4–6pm
📍 The MM Art Gallery, 222 High Street, Newburgh
✨ FREE ENTRY
🥂 Refreshments available

Rory will be there alongside our other Artist of the Month, Gilli B Illustration, so come along, see their exhibitions, meet the artists themselves and have a chat about the work behind the displays.

It should be a really lovely afternoon and I’d love to see plenty of you there! ❤️🎨

A little goodbye from The MM Art Gallery ❤️

At the end of October, The MM Art Gallery will be closing its doors and I’ll be handing the space back to its owner, Naoimh O’Shea.

I want to say a huge thank you to all of the artists, crafters and makers who have trusted me with their work, and to everyone who has visited, bought something, attended a class or event, or supported the gallery during my time here.

Thank you also to Naoimh for giving me the opportunity to take on the space and give running my own gallery a go. I’m glad I did it and I’ve met some wonderful people along the way.

Everything currently in the gallery will be leaving at the end of October, so if you’ve been meaning to come in for a look, now is the time! There’s still lots of original artwork, crafts, jewellery and gifts available, but only until the end of the month.

I’ve also got a great line-up of classes and workshops at Mel’s Art Shed throughout October, so make the most of them while I’m still here in Newburgh!

And I couldn’t leave without going out with a bang! 🎃 My very last day is Halloween, and I’ll be finishing my time here with my Halloween Paint & Unwind evening at Newburgh Church. I’d absolutely love to see lots of you there to help me make my last night in Newburgh a good one!

Although The MM Art Gallery is closing, Meleri Mair Art is carrying on, with lots more classes, workshops and Paint & Unwind events across Dundee and Fife.

Here’s to one final October at The MM Art Gallery! ❤️
