💙 Today we have opened our pre-order line for programmes and wristbands.💙
Phone Sam on 07966 271614
and she will call you back 😁
So it’s a good time to explain why we sell wristbands when our festival is free to attend and requires no “proof of admission “
So … here is last year’s post, with a few tweaks..
Yes, we sell wristbands.
But what are they all about and why do we sell them? And isn’t this festival actually completely free to attend? 🤷♀️
All reasonable questions so let us answer them.
The music festival is run (as you probably know by now because we do mention it a bit!) entirely by volunteers. No one is paid to run it and no one makes any money out of it. But every single musician, every single sound guy, every single member of the security team, the first aid team and numerous other people contracted to help us, are paid. So the festival costs us a lot of money to put on. (Over £100,000 this year and it would be considerably more if some many people didn’t do SO much for free)
💰💸💵
We have spent many years trying to get the message out and explain that although we are “free music for all“ and you don’t need to buy tickets and you don’t have to give us any money at all… if you don’t, There is a very good chance that the festival won’t happen again 😳
To raise the money we need we have a large amount of sponsorship from our amazing local sponsors (we thank every single one of you and couldn’t do it without you) that raises about a third of what we need.
So the rest of it comes from selling our program and from shaking buckets at people when they are out and about enjoying the festival to ask them to give us any money they can spare in order to make it happen again. Yes, we agree that this is a nuts business model but it has worked for 28years🤞
So what does all this have to do with the wristband?
Well, if you’re wearing a wristband you show that you have donated a fixed sum to us. You have understood the message, you love the music festival, you want it to continue, and you have been kind enough to give us a little of your hard earned money to make sure that it does. 😇
It’s not obligatory.
It doesn’t mean you can’t see any of our music without it.
But it does mean that you’re in the gang, you’re a member of the team, that in a small way you have helped towards ensuring that this festival goes on for many years to come! 🎶🎵🎶
And that is literally all there is to it.
if you want to pre-order them great, thank you.
This is particularly helpful this year as we will be VAT registered from 1st May and will have to hand £4.17 from each sale after this date , to HMRC 🫣
If you want to buy them when you get here, perfect, we will have plenty and we aren’t increasing the price.
If you’re having a hard time and literally don’t have the money that’s fine too, come and enjoy the music anyway, we love to see you.
It’s about what you can afford to give and all of us (Dartmouthians and all our welcome guests) coming together as a community to make this thing happen.
See you in May
it’s gonna be fab!!! 💃🕺🪩
