‘My ceramic pieces are wheel thrown, electric fired stoneware. I produce a range of both functional and sculptural works, all decorated with multi-layered glazes.

The interaction between the sea and the land has been a constant inspiration for the colours, textures and form in my work, the sea, sand, pebbles, rock formations. The movement of the water as the sea rolls onto the beach or crashes on the rocks.

Many pieces are decorated to emulate seascapes or landscapes. I am currently exploring the effects of different forms of erosion and their additional textural qualities.’ - Craig Eyles

These beautiful sculptures are currently available in our exhibition ‘Observe.’ Some gorgeous pieces have already found homes but these beauties are yet to find homes. Prices range from £62.50 to £410, do drop us a message for further details.

Wild Art Studios work from their home studio. Colin and Karen are committed to creating lifelike sculptures using the British countryside. They aim to capture not just the look, but also the spirit and personality of the subject, making it appear much more alive - as though it could move at any moment.

Karen finishes all of the sculptures herself, including final detailed clay work and colour painting/glazing. As well as researching existing projects, she is always looking for better ways of doing things and likes the challenge of undertaking new subjects.

Some of Wild Art Studio works are glazed to provide a more robust outdoor finish. Where more detailed colour is needed for lifelike representation of the original subject, they also carefully paint the fired sculpture with weatherproof paints.

‘Observe’ runs until 9th May and shows the work of Wild Art Studios alongside paintings by Hazel Mountford. Open Thurs - Sat 10am - 5pm.

BIG NEWS! Our new exhibition features work by the most exceptional artist Hazel Mountford.

Hazel Mountford immerses herself in understanding her subjects’ characteristics, behaviours, and the challenges they encounter.

Working meticulously on custom-made wooden panels, Hazel thoughtfully selects the surface’s shape to actively complement each painting’s narrative, transforming the panel itself into an integral compositional element. Drawing inspiration from natural specimens and anatomical studies, she crafts her paintings with intricate brushstrokes, captivating depth, and minimalist backgrounds that draw the viewer’s focus inward.

Her subjects, whether a curious fox, a watchful owl, or a diminutive bee, seem to engage viewers with a piercing, transient gaze, forging a profound connection across realms.

Ceramicist Clare Conrad has been invited to be part of our new exhibition ‘Landed’ which opens today at White Chalk Gallery. Her work is an exploration of colour and texture inspired by the effects of light and ageing on architecture, artefacts and landscape.

Clare’s technique of layering vitreous slip onto wheel-thrown vessels, vases and bowls creates a rugged texture, which contrasts with the satin-matt glaze on the inside.

‘In my work I try to capture the poignant beauty and drama of weathering and corrosion - the point of balance between existence and decay. I find the vessel form the most satisfying to use and I enjoy the traditional method of wheel-throwing, which adds to the sense of capturing time. Forms are thrown slowly and meticulously to give thin-walled, yet strong, subtly rugged, finely balanced pieces.’ - Clare Conrad

‘Landed’ is showing until Sat 11th April. Open Thursday - Saturday 10am - 5pm during that period. Pop in or drop us a message to enquire about sizes/prices of particular pieces.
