Join photographer and teacher Elsie Garner in exploring one of photography’s oldest printing processes. Learn to create botanical and object-based prints using sunlight, chemistry, and natural materials. You will journey through the history of this camera-less process and discover the process from start to finish.

The workshop includes at least two hours of uninterrupted creative flow, allowing you the freedom to experiment, play, and create a series of your own unique prints.

You are encouraged to bring personal items to incorporate into your work. Objects that work beautifully include flowers, leaves, shells, lace, jewellery, glass, buttons, twigs, transparent materials, and other flat or semi-transparent treasures.

Alongside the classic deep Prussian Blue tones of traditional Cyanotypes, there will be an opportunity to transform your prints using natural tannin dyes such as beetroot, tea, and coffee, as well as Hydrogen Peroxide to intensify and alter tones. These organic interventions create rich, earthy variations and unexpected colour palettes unique to each print.

By the end of the workshop, each participant will leave with approximately 3–5 original Cyanotype prints in A4 and A5 sizes, alongside the knowledge and confidence to continue exploring the process independently.

Sunday 7th June, 10.00-13.00

Opening this Saturday: 'I Think This is Where I Live' by Jess Scott, a KIND x KARST collaboration.

This exhibition comes as the artist’s grandmother developed vascular dementia. Conversations became shorter and places and timelines became muddled. Almost as if her life had been turned on its end and was being viewed all at once. The film and photographic works are made up of a frantic attempt to capture and preserve the family home as it is emptied and returned to the council after 80 years.

Jess works as a community filmmaker, evolving their film craft whilst developing ways to teach film and experimental media skills to others. She has a BA Filmmaking from Aberystwyth University, graduating in 2022 before moving back home to Plymouth. Their work is often biographical, observing their place within the world, and often using her art to share and process personal experiences as a tool to connect with the audience.

Come and meet this artist from 3 - 5pm this Saturday, 30th May and celebrate our newest exhibition 🥂

Step into a playful world of colour, texture, and intuition in this hands-on abstract painting workshop with artist Zoe Hyde. This is a space to experiment freely and discover what happens when colour and gesture take the lead.

You’ll explore how bold and contrasting colours interact, how different marks can shift mood and meaning, and how paint behaves when you stop trying to control it and start responding to it. Expect layered surfaces, energetic mark making, and unexpected results!

Zoe Hyde grew up surrounded by creativity in remote North Cornwall and went on to study at Falmouth College of Art, later completing a Fine Art Degree at Kent Institute of Art and Design, including residencies at the Cyprus College of Art. Her practice is rooted in exploration of landscape, memory, and material.

This exciting workshop is suitable for both beginners and experienced artists with materials provided.

Sunday 28th June, 10.00 - 13.00
