Farewell to XP190

Westland Scout AH.1 XP190 has today left the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum, its home of 34 years. After joining the museums collection at the former RAF Firbeck site in 1992, XP190 moved with the museum to our current site at Doncaster in 1999 and has been displayed to the public since. An important airframe, XP190 was the first Scout helicopter to be fitted with powered flying controls. Over the years, XP190 has been seen by many thousands of visitors here in Doncaster, and will continue to be displayed to the public in its new home.

The Scout helicopter will continue to be represented at South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum, with Scout AH.1 XV139 displayed within the museum’s hangar and forming part of our ’11 weeks in 1982’ display charting the Falklands War, along with our accessible cockpit section XP902 allowing visitors of all abilities to access the pilots seats and feel the conditions experienced by the crews of these helicopters.
