Dorset's Creative Health Strategy 2026–2031 is now live and free to download 🎉
Creative Health means creative approaches and activities that benefit our health and wellbeing. The evidence base is strong, particularly around prevention, managing long-term conditions, and improving wellbeing across the life course.
Strong Creative Health practice already exists across Dorset. Much of it runs on short-term funding and operates in isolation from other work happening locally. Awareness remains low, both among the people who would most benefit and the decision-makers who shape health services.
This strategy responds to that. Co-developed with partners across Dorset's health, culture and community sectors, it sets six priorities for the next five years: Collaboration, Advocacy, Sustainability, Workforce, Equity and Quality. Together, they form a plan to grow access, build evidence, strengthen the sector, and make the case to those who fund and commission services.
With this, Dorset joins a national movement to embed Creative Health as part of how we support wellbeing, strengthen prevention, and ease pressure on services.
