The oak tree purchased with donations from a Lancaster crew member’s family - Sgt. David Booker (Bomb Aimer) - and Wimbotsham History. The tree guard has now been given the addition of a small plaque to commemorate the crash. It is positioned on the village green, close to Wimbotsham School. Thanks also for help and assistance from the Wimbotsham Recreation Ground Committee and the Parish Council in making this happen.

I will always remember my Great-uncle Olaf Leeder who was “killed in action”. Olaf enlisted in the Royal Norfolk Regiment and was 28 when he died. Corp. Leeder is buried Kranji Cemetary, Singapore. His name is also shown in his home town on the Roll of Honour in St Nicholas Church in North Walsham and on that town’s War Memorial.
