Join us today for some free Under the Sea crafts. Crafts are suitable for ages 5-8 and should take about 30 minutes. No need to book just pop in to see us. We are upstairs at the Archives and can be found in the Education Room between 10.30 and 2.30.

The Tropical Bird House, Dudley Zoo, an oil painting by Kates Hill born artist Percy Shakespeare. He attended Dudley Art School on a free scholarship, then Birmingham School of Art where he received an Art Masters Certificate in Anatomical Drawing and qualified as a teacher. When war broke out in 1939 he enlisted in the Royal Navy, painting in his spare time. On 25th May 1943, Whilst walking alone near Brighton he was killed in a bombing raid at the age of 37. Dudley Museum has a small exhibition of Percy's paintings. Lovely partnership between Dudley College, Himley Hall and Park, the Museum Team and the Brooke Robinson Trustees to transform the room ready for its new exhibition.
One student shared: “I’ve counted the windows so I can look up one day and tell my family I painted that room.”

Just two weeks until we have our popular Half Term Diddy Dino Craft session. The session is suitable for ages 4-8, is drop in (so no need to book) and is FREE! We have fun simple crafts that should take about 30 minutes to complete. This will leave plenty of time to look around the Museum, maybe doing one of our crafts. This session will mainly have an Under The Sea theme. We look forward to seeing you between 10.30 and 2.30 on Wednesday 27 May

Lots to do at Dudley Museum this Saturday, we have a new trail, find the clues to work out who was older or younger than the Dinosaurs!! We also have free crafts from 10.30-2.30, this week we are making an under the sea picture with matchsticks and we also have free fossil identification sessions between 10.30 and 3. Kids off school, looking for something to do today? why not visit Dudley Museum. we have fossils, dinosaurs, local history and art all in one compact space. We are free to enter and open 10am-4pm Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
